Trumped or Clintoned?

Let’s forget the fact that being trumped leaves me feeling overpowered and being clintoned sounds like I’ve been gutted.  Am I the only one who thinks our election year has turned into some kind of weird reality show titled “The Emperor Has No Sense”?  Just like the favorite children’s story from Hans Christian Andersen, “The Emperor’s New Clothes” our Emperor candidates are letting it all hang out and just daring us to vote without stating the obvious:  Um……but……THE EMPEROR HAS NO SENSE!!! This rather unbelievable state...

The “Artistic” Kid

April is Autism Awareness Month so I decided to share this brief story.  Many years ago when my daughter was in early middle school she and a friend helped babysit children who came to a party we were hosting for our directors.  The parents were on the property but since we have a pool and I wanted the parents to relax I hired Madison and her friend Kristin to look after the few children who were going to be there.  They were to play games, watch movies and keep everyone away from the pool.  Unbeknownst to us one of our directors at the time had five children one of whom was autistic.  This...

Politics As (un) Usual

“Allowing non-citizen’s to vote??!  What?!  Did I hear that right?”  I was certain I misread a news feed but, sadly, it was true.  There is a growing push in some quarters to legalize voting for non-citizens in the USA.  Apparently it has already begun in California while I was busy preparing for a our daughter’s wedding last fall. I had promised myself to stay well away from the politics of the US Presidential election this year, because no matter what I could say it would be polarizing.  I could feel the indignant “WTF??”   rising up within me, a...

11. Day 11: Considerations, Fears & Roadblocks

I read a great way to describe thoughts in Jack Canfield’s book yesterday.  He describes these things as just “part of the process of success”.  He says look out for these things, they will  happen: considerations, fears and roadblocks. Considerations:  are thoughts that tell you that you can’t or shouldn’t do something.  It might look like “My wife’ll kill me”, “I don’t want to get up two hours earlier”  “It’s too hard”,  “My territory is maxed out” Fears:  are feelings; fear of being rejected,...

9. Day 25: The Joy Of Christmas Presence

This holiday to England has been all about presence.  Presence with our own hearts, presence with each one we were privileged to spend time with and presence with what gifts life brought to us each and every day.  Christmas Presence is that time when we all join together in that beautiful presence of love that is always within us.  We have met numerous people who celebrate Christmas and the deeper meaning of “God-With-Us” in Emmanuel’s birth without knowing very much about the original Christmas story.  The Bible tells us “You will know them by their love.”...
