8. Day 3: Let The Mystery Know You

I love a good mystery.  Why is that so?  If I fear not-knowing, why would I love mystery?  What is it about mystery stories that makes us love them?

1.  It will all work out in the end.

2. We know the actors (or characters) are not really dead, lost, hurt or betrayed.

3. We can feel the thrill of the fear, that frisson of anticipation and apprehension without taking it on as our own story,  (Unless we do get so immersed in the thrill we forget that the story isn’t real and we are not in danger in any way.)

This is actually one of the reasons you keep reading my blog–mystery.  You know Love and Holy Spirit is present (and presented) but you have no idea which hair brained fear or thought cluster is coming next because this is a live show.  My living and loving is showing me the way too.  And the way goes right through the middle of not-knowing. Maybe I fear not-knowing because I can’t imagine being safe, comfortable and happy without knowing.

day of rest

Let the mystery love you.

Isn’t this one of the reasons we strive in our lives, to know?

to know who we are

to know where we live

to know who loves us

to know joy, peace & strength

to know God

If I knew not-knowing in the biblical sense of getting intimate with it, and not fearing it, wouldn’t that leave a lot of time for the experience of ALL the qualities of Love?  What if all not-knowing is just being unaware of the quality of Love that is in front of me, in me, or holding the whole universe?  What if I quit talking and let the mystery, the not-knowing know me instead?

…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….

I still don’t know not-knowing but just being quiet, and listening for the mystery of not-knowing to know me I feel stilled, open, aware.  Is this the purpose of not-knowing , to open us up to awareness?

  1. The real mystery…the cows eat green grass and produce white milk. God washes us in the blood and we come out white as snow. The real mystery…gives deference to the Holy Spirit to have power over the mystery.

    • Howard, my soul sighs with pleasure each time you write. So beautiful, thanks:) xoxo
