9. Day 1: A Month Of Living Joy

After a number of epic traveling days which included a rugby match at Twickenham, an advent feast in the Cotswolds with old army friends and a day of networking with the fantastic team at BNI UK headquarters I needed to hear the Holy Spirit on a deep level. Me:  What do I need to know right now in my travels? HS:  Dearest One, Welcome to your day and living joy.  Traveling is a bountiful way to experience yourself unconditionally in all conditions. You will be in many experiences which will bring up much forgotten within you, this not-knowing that arises may take you by surprise but you may...

8. Day 19: Silence & Simplicity

8. Day 19: Silence & Simplicity

I love that I keep getting plenty of opportunity to extend love to Not-Knowing…….by not knowing how our holidays (or the afternoon) will unfold.  It seems both completely unreal and completely natural that we are here, in London, living in a little cottage near Notting Hill Gate station.  We buy groceries at Tesco, go to Boots for a new flat iron (I decided when mine burnt the handkerchief I was holding it with because it was so hot, it was time to go native) and we walk everywhere.  Yet there are many times we feel displaced and unsure what we are doing here exactly.  It is a...

8. Day 16: The Queen’s Keys

I got a tiny glimpse of what heaven might be like yesterday.  It is history, privilege, gratitude, wonder and reunion.  It is art, silver, medals for valor and welcome.  It is gathering, eating and drinking and applause.  It is full and complete satisfaction, wholeness, full circle and return.  And joy.  Joy and “pinch me is this real?” delight.  It is all these things and more. In 1983 my husband did a Long Armor Infantry Course in Bovington, England for the year.  It was a year that changed the course of our lives, as overseas postings do.  I discovered you live your life to the...

8. Day 14: Why Takes A Holiday

8. Day 14: Why Takes A Holiday

I need to know why.  Why??!!!  My husband asks “How?”  Together we want to know.  And this is the month of extending love to Not-Knowing.  How perfect is it then that we get to be in a brand new, yet ancient place.  We have now arrived in London and woken to rain.  Rain, alone, washed away my usual need to know “why?”  Coming from such drought in California it is such a glorious gift and joy just to see gray skies and hear the rain drops steadily on the roof I am deliciously immersed in the present moment.  I think, for me, why includes past, present and future...

8. Day 11: The Answers Will Find You

8. Day 11: The Answers Will Find You

Today is my last day in country before embarking on a sabbatical and work trip to England with my husband.  This trip came about in the usual way with an idea, an opportunity and a great leap into the infinite Not-Knowing.  The trip itself is not so unusual.  Traveling overseas gets easier and easier with technology allowing best price and a buffet of choices.  What is different, nay, almost unheard of, is that we will be gone for nearly two months.  This time will be punctuated with networking and business opportunities but what I am most looking forward to is unplugging from our daily life...

6. Day 4: Look Out London, Here She Comes !!!

6. Day 4: Look Out London, Here She Comes !!!

Our daughter is studying abroad for her fall term and leaves for the UK today.  She will be in Bath but will stay in London a few days to acclimatize, then spend some lovely days with good friends in Norfolk and Sheffield (A BIG thank you to Dan and Louise!!).  This study abroad has led rather neatly to the obvious next step.  I must go to London.  Or rather WE must go to London.  My tiredness however is no longer my own, it has spilled over into my household and after finding ourselves utterly and completely spent after months and years of non stop living, my husband and I both have decided...
