1. Day 23: Itching Relieves Tension

Today commitment is like the annoying itch I have at the moment.  To be honest, I want more to know about the itching that I want to know about commitment.

Me:  What is this itching about?  It comes replete with both full-on annoyance and delicious satisfaction.  It keeps coming back, is this some form of self-medication?  Please help me see here, thank you.

HS:  Your body continues to call out for care:  movement, moisture, nourishment, stretch, openness and strength.

Me:  Honestly, I get tired of my body’s needs.  How can I see this differently?

Whoa!  This thought just snuck into my awareness:

I am afraid of my body.

Oh, I GET IT!  Commitment wants so be expressed!!

How can commitment be expressed here?

(I extended JUICY to my body in the form of a perfectly ripe pear.  Yum!)

This quote from I Come As A Brother, by Bartholomew expresses the itch of tension I am feeling:

“Your inner tension comes from not loving parts of yourself.

I love myself in the midst of it all

I love myself in the midst of it all

Your freedom comes from going within and saying with all the power of your being:

“I love myself in the midst of __________________!”

Whatever it may be, in the midst of that feeling, in the midst of that thought, in the midst of that action, your freedom lies in saying “I love myself in this moment, just as it is.” ——– I Come As A Brother,  by Bartholomew pg. 36

I think this is why practices like Extending Love to Your Thoughts, EFT, The Power of Now, and Loving What IS are so very powerful.  They express this truth of loving yourself in the midst of this very moment, no matter what it is.

I can see that as I address my fear of commitment by finally looking at it squarely and in love I am learning much about the power and quality of commitment.  Commitment must be expressed.  As I am expressing my commitment to my self and my heart through this Twelvemonth of Self Love Project I must learn to express commitment in other ways as well.  My body is crying out for a commitment from me, one I am yet withholding (resisting?).  All I can say right this moment is I am a live, work-in-progress of Love’s expression.  It is enough for now.

  1. First of all I would like to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if you don’t mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!

    • Thank you for your comments. My go to practice is extending love to my thoughts. I take a few deep breaths and just notice whatever I notice, I feel into a quality of love (tenderness, care, awareness, delight) and extend it to my thought. FYI, in thes practice, a thought is pretty moust anything I notice, ie, being tired, a headache, or being annoyed that my computer seems slow. Check the page on extending love to your thoughts for more. Thanks again for stopping by!
